Medan- The centre for constitutional studies review (PKSK) MuHuman rightsmadiyah University of North Sumatera (UMSU) cooperated with Kakanwil of Law and HUMAN RIGHTS of North Sumatera, Saturday morning 2/4/2011 held dissemination of seminar of UUD (constitution) RI 1945 in the campus auditorium of UMSU, Jl. Mukhtar Basri No.3 Medan. A day seminar was presented two expert speakers, one of them was Mukhlis Ibrahim, SH.MH by a subject of “Indonesian constitution in the path of history” and Irfan SH, M.Hum explored the topic of “UUD 1945 as the foundation of society, nation, and state.
This seminar was the first agenda of PKSK UMSU since inaugurated by the chief of MK, Mahfud MD on 12th March 2011,” said Harisman SH.MH, the secretary of PKSK UMSU through Anwar Bakti the Head of Public Relation UMSU to a number of mass media in Medan. “Now, PKSK UMSU is trying to disseminate constitution understanding to our society, not only through seminar, discussion, dialogue, but also cooperating with a number of mass media: print and electronic, so the information becomes wider,” he added.
Kakanwil law and Human rights of North Sumatera which was represented by Suhandi SH in the opening ceremony said that law and human rights were two sides of a coin that could not be separated. If there is a violation of law, we will face the problem of human rights, because of that Law and Human Rights Ministry needed to enter into an agreement with several parties to increase the constitution awareness of society. At this time, according to Suhandi SH.MH, his party has prepared a number of MoU (Memorandum Agreement), which is on 27th April 2011 will be signed by Menkumham Patrialis Akbar, some of them are about intellectual property rights clinic.
The seminar got a serious attention from some parties, especially the academic community of UMSU. Julfikar SH.MH as the chairman organizing committee said, “this seminar opened by the vice chancellor II UMSU, Suhrawardi K. Lubis, SH. MH. SpN and followed by 100 participants.” (www.umsu.ac.id)
