The visit was undertaken after attending an invitation by Ministry of Education of Malaysia to discuss an establishment of a Muhammadiyah university in Malaysia.

In the one-hour visit, General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir was accompanied by a group of people from Jakarta, namely General Secretary of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti, Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Bahtiar Effendi, Head of Council of Higher Education, Research and Development Lincolin Arsyad, Rector of Universitas Muhamadiyah Surabaya Sukadiono, Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto Anjar Nugroho, Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur Bambang Setiadji, and a staff of Muhammadiyah Hefinal.

The meeting was led by Head of PCIM (Muhammadiyah Special Branch) of Malaysia Sonny Zulhuda, and was attended by several organizers of PCIM Malaysia.

Haedar Nashir was grateful and proud of the PCIM of Malaysia for having a Muhammadiyah charity, seven PRIMs, and ‘Aisyiyah Special Subdistrict Branch (PRIA).

Haedar added that Muhammadiyah power is on its brotherhood. “Muhammadiyah cannot easily be separated and possesses vigor to charity so that Muhammadiyah charities exist everywhere,” declared Haedar.

“PCIM of Malaysia is the greatest and firmest Muhammadiyah special branch among 27 branches in the world,” he stated.

Meanwhile, General Secretary Abdul Mu’ti was fascinated to the existence of Muhammadiyah in Malaysia. He advised to all Muhammadiyah members in Malaysia to remain calm, particularly in this political year. “In order that we do not get mad in this political year, Muhammadiyah members should prioritize dakwah (Islamic preaching) and disseminate goodness,” asserted Abdul Mu’ti.

He inserted that it is essential to reinforce and develop Muhammadiyah diaspora in Malaysia. “If necessary, the diaspora is addressed to Indonesian people who dwell here and do not come home. We have to always expand Muhammadiyah here as Muhajirin people decided to stay in Madinah and did not come back,” contended Mu’ti.
