A Palestinian Preacher: Muhammadiyah Is a Family

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, JAKARTA - Ending an Islamic program with six Palestinian preachers, Office of Muhammadiyah Zakat Infaq Shodaqoh (LazisMu) conducted iftar (breaking a fast) with the preachers at Muhammadiyah Dakwah Center, Jakarta on Monday (27/5).

Head of the Office Hilman Latief informed that the program was held for 20 days since the first day of Ramadan 1440 H. The program was cooperation between government and several private institutions.

“This farewell aims to raise our views and awareness of what occurs in Palestine. The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia encourages Lazismu to support humanitarian actions in Palestine,” stated Hilman.

The six Palestinian preachers became imam (a person leading prayer) of tarawih prayer and shared new conditions of Palestine.

“For 20 days, we placed two Palestinians in Jawa Timur, three Palestinians in Jawa Tengah and one Palestinian in DKI Jakarta. They depart to Palestine tomorrow,” told Hilman.

One of the Palestinian preachers Mahmud As-Syakhwa thanked Muhammadiyah and considered Muhammadiyah a family.

“Muhammadiyah and Palestine are a family. We share the same feeling. As a family, we believe amar ma’ruf nahi munkar because Palestinians always pray for you,” expressed Mahmud.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Dadang Kahmad expected that the collaboration can be sustained.

“Muhammadiyah has put its endeavor for humanity in Palestine, and I wish that our cooperation can be valuable,” conveyed Mahmud.
