MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, WATES - The Central Board of Muhammadiyah having directly overseen Madrasah Muallimin and Muallimat Yogyakarta since these recent years seeks to enhance their quality in infrastructures and academics.
“The Central Board highly expects that both schools can become excellent modern Islamic schools and bear cadres of ulema, zuama, and educators in national and international levels,” declared General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir when visiting Mu’allimin and Muallimat building construction on Saturday (1/6) with Chairmen of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Busro Muqoddar and Agus Taufiqurrahman as well as Secretary of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Agung Danarto.
The Central Board of Muhammadiyah has made essential policy and actions these recent years.
First, according to Agung Danarto, to construct a new location of Madrasah Muallimin, the Central Board searched and purchased a 6-hectare area in Sedayu, Bantul. The construction funds were collected by the central board and the construction team led by Prof. Syafii Maarif with the team members, Khoiruddin Bashori and Ikhwan Ahada.
“We had expected 10 hectares, but we just got 6 hectares. Buya Syafii and the team have endeavored to found the school. They always attempt to succeed developing the school,” explained Agung.
Second, both of the school headmasters and the board of trustees are encouraged to improve academic quality.
“Alhamdulillah, the school’s trends are amazing such as conducting an exchange program to boost students’ global experiences and knowledge. Indeed, the students’ characters as Muhammadiyah cadres are reinforced through comprehensive Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah teaching,” told Agung.
Third, the construction from the beginning is assisted by government through a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) and other non-binding halal parties. The team always tries to accelerate the construction and to raise funds. That is only the first step of the construction.
“We highly appreciate Buya Syafii Maarif who has been playing essential roles in the establishment,” expressed Agung.
Besides, the team expected alumni of Muallimin and Muallimat as well as all Muhammadiyah members to willingly donate for the construction in order that they are not included in a group of people mentioned on QS Ash-Shaff verse 2, ‘O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do?’
Fourth, the schools will later have branches in several areas so that progressive Islamic education can be spread in Indonesia with the same quality.
Fifth, the Central Board of Muhammadiyah are now seeking a 5-6-hectare areas for Madrasah Muallimat.
“Afterwards, a team for the Muallimat building construction will be coined. The Muallimat team is different from the Muallimin team. We hope that the Muallimat as a Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah historical female school can possess a wonderful new building,” contended Agung.
He also wished that Muallimat produces cadres having ulul-albab quality, being able to answer an issue of lacking female ulema, and becoming progressive new female generations of Muhammadiyah.
