MUHAMMADIYAH. ID, YOGYAKARTA - General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir set off dozens of groups of Gema Takbir Jogja (GTJ - Jogja Takbir Parade) 2019 at yard of Masjid Gedhe Kauman, Yogyakarta on Tuesday evening (4/6).

Hadar expected that the annual takbiran parade was more than a competition and it could be utilized to disseminate and uphold Islamic values.

“May the takbir tranquilize our heart and we can promote Islam as rahmatan lil ‘alamin,(a mercy to the worlds),” declared Haedar.

Besides, Haedar appreciated Angkatan Muda Muhammadiyah (AMM) Gondomanan collaborating with Keraton Ngayogyakarta and Remaja (youth community of) Masjid Gedhe Kauman, Yogyakarta for conducting the GTJ 2019.

“Keraton Yogyakarta, Masjid Gedhe, Muhammadiyah, Muslims, and Yogyakarta people are united with strong spiritual bases, namely noble Islamic values,” Haedar conveyed.

Meanwhile, Chief of the GTJ committee Miftakhul Ikhwan informed that the GTJ raised a theme of ‘Millennium Vigor of Environmental Care’ and had a mission to save the environment that has been neglected nowadays.

As previous years, the parade route was at the center of Yogyakarta city and the groups participating in the GTJ 2019 competed to gain Piala Raja (King’s Cup).

Some performance at Alun-Alin Utara marked the parade started at the yard of Masjid Gedhe Kauman. Afterwards, the participants went through Jalan K.H. Ahmad Dahlan and Jalan Kauman. The start line was also the finish one.

Additionally, the parade was attended by a daughter of Governor of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, GKR Mangkubumi, and Deputy Mayor of Yogyakarta City Heroe Poerwadi.
