Having a Visit from the PRC Representatives, Muhammadiyah Makes Recommendations

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, JAKARTA – In a visit of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to Indonesia Hu Zhengyue at Muhammadiyah Dakwah Center of Jakarta on Tuesday (18/6), General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir stated that as a superpower country the PRC should possess a new paradigm, particularly treatment to Muslims and Islamic world.

“We recommend the PRC as the rising star superpower to have new insights, to create peace, to cooperate, and not to bear mafsadat (decay) as well as discrimination on Islam,” asserted Haedar.

Muhammadiyah also suggested the ambassador to review policy of foreign workers from the PRC and to do a follow up of an issue of illegal and non-professional foreign workers in several areas of Indonesia that may drive disharmony of relations between the PRC and Indonesia.

“We prompt the PRC to review the issue of foreign worker and provide occasions for local workers. Besides, we propel that conflicts in Uyghur so that diversity can be achieved,” inserted Haedar.

Meanwhile, the visit was a follow-up of a number of visits from Chinese Muslims to Muhammadiyah and Islamic organizations to the PRC.

In the visit, Hu was accompanied by Vice President of China Islamic Association and President of Xianjiang Islamic Institute Abudurekefu Tumuniyazi. The visit was received by Chairman of Muhammadiyah Anwar Abbas, Head of Special Dakwah Office Muhammad Ziyad, and Head of Office of Foreign Affairs Muhyidin Djunaedi.

“In essence, there is positive progress towards believing in Islam in the PRC. The number of Muslims is quite great in Xinjiang. The PRC appreciates the development and seeks to cooperate with Indonesian Muslims, especially Muhammadiyah. The country also values Muslims and the Islamic world. The PRC has a principle that cooperation should lead to welfare, peace, and respect to one another,” mentioned Haedar.
