MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, SEPANJANG - General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhamamidyah Haedar Nashir attended a gathering (silaturahim) of Muhamadiyah of Sepanjang, Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur on Sunday (23/6).

In his remark, fasting enables people to be faithful and righteous. There are two characteristics of people of taqwa as mentioned on Ali Imran verse 134, “Who spend [in the cause of Allah ] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people.”

“According to the verse, the people of taqwa are the ones who not only perform compulsory good deeds, but also disburse their wealth during their ease and hardship (as-sarra and adh-dharra),” explained Haedar.

He added that we need to enhance our quality of taqwa and reconnect broken silaturahim after Ramadan.

“Thus, we have to internalize values and behaviors of taqwa in our personal life, family, community, nation, and universal humanity.

Besides, Haedar mentioned six reasons why Muhammadiyah can develop till now. First, Muhamamdiyah possesses strong fundamental religious understanding. Second, the movement has tough ideology. Third, Muhammadiyah is excellent at managing an organizational system. Fourth, it owns firm thoughts. Fifth, Mihamamdiyah possesses strengths as Muhamamdiyah’s charity which is a characteristic of progressive Islam having been implemented by Muhammadiyah when others leaves it as rhetoric. Last, Muhammadiyah can be a great movement since it plays essential roles in people and this nation.
