Bank Muamalat Cooperates with Muhammadiyah to Evolve AUM

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, JAKARTA - Focusing on the development of Muhammadiyah charity businesses (AUM), on Friday (29/6) the Central Board of Muhammadiyah and PT Bank Mualamat Indonesia agreed to have cooperation.

The agreement was undertaken at Muhammadiyah Office, Menteng, Jakarta that Muhammadiyah was represented by General Chairman Haedar Nashir, Chairman Syafiq Mughni, General Secretary Abdul Mu’ti, and General Treasurers Suyatno and Marpuji Ali.

Till the end of December 2019, CEO of Bank Muamalat Indonesia Achmad Permana stated that Bank Muamalat provides 500 billion rupiahs for Muhammadiyah with a sharia principle to develop fields of funding, education, health, and charity. The funding is dealing with a virtual account for tuition fee payments for primary and secondary schools and higher education.

Achmad Permana stated that AUM in Jawa Timur showed the most successful cooperation performed by Muhammadiyah.

“The AUM is schools, hospitals, and others. In Jawa Timur, the number of funds distributed to the AUM was 200 to 300 billion rupiah, and it is expected to reach a half trillion at the end of this year. Thus, the funding system in Jawa Timur will become a role model for other regions,” declared Achmad.

A consolidated solid charity business structure made Bank Mualat ensure to sustain cooperation with Muhammadiyah.

“The condition of Muhammadiyah’s charity eases us to analyze it. Not all the charity businesses run smoothly, but the Central Board of Muhammadiyah will assist when problems occur. A certain office of the central board will give recommendations to solve the issues,” contended Achmad.

Meanwhile, General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhamamdiyah Suyatno confirmed that Muhammadiyah charity businesses are secure since they are supported by Office of Asset Management and Control.

“If the charity businesses confront problems, the Central Board will help them,” asserted Suyanto.

Regarding the cooperation, Suyatno would like to foster the charity businesses which has yet been structured well using a method applied by the AUM of Jawa Timur.

“We would like to evolve the AUM in other areas such as Bali. There have been a lot of well-established and well-managed charity businesses in Jawa Timur, and the organizers of the businesses become role models for other areas,” expressed Suyanto.
