MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, PADANG - General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir attended a gathering, inauguration of a university residence of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatra Barat (UMSB), and a launching as well as review of a book entitled “Muhammadiyah di Bawah Tekanan” (Muhammadiyah under Pressure) at Convention Hall of the UMSB on Saturday (29/6).
In his remark, Haedar stated that silaturahim (a gathering) is a culture which should widely be promoted since it is regarding not only a religious aspect but also a social aspect.
“Islam teaches us that silaturahim aims to reconnect a brotherhood. Silaturahim refers to seeking similarities over differences,” declared Haedar.
He propelled people to be reconciled after the presidential election dispute decision of the Constitutional Court (MK).
“As soon as the MK decides, there are no longer supporters of 01 or 02. We need to revive ukuwah,” emphasized Haedar.
According to Haedar, since established by K.H. Ahmad Dahlan 106 years ago in Yogyakarta, Muhammadiyah has proven itself as the greatest Islamic movement in Indonesia. Muhammadiyah can develop and survive till the second century due to its strengths.
The five strengths of Muhamamdiyah are dealing with its movement principle, human resources, organization systems, charity, and dakwah.
“Muhammadiyah’s principle is Islam Berkemajuan (Islam with Progress) which is addressed to enlighten this nation and is dealing with all life aspects of Muhammadiyah people,” maintained Haedar.
About the UMSB, Haedar expected that the university can accept 5,000 students this year.
“The Central Board of Muhammadiyah is optimistic about the increasing number of students of the UMSB,” expressed Haedar.
