MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, PEKANBARU - Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM) as an autonomous organization should reinforce nationalism towards the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

The aforementioned statement was declared by Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Muhadjir Effendy at the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) conducted at Auditorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau. Organized on Thursday (4/7), the Rakornas raised a theme of ‘Uniting Indonesia.’

According to Muhadjir, the theme brought essential values amid political conditions of Indonesia, particularly post-presidential election, that everyone should rally to evolve Indonesia.

“May this Rakornas enhance students’ nationalism,” expected Muhadjir.

Muhadjir, who is also Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah for Higher Education, Research, and Development, wished that the Rakornas could yield decisions and contribution to the future of this nation.

Besides officially opening the Rakornas, Muhadjir delivered a lecture and prompted the IMM cadres to embody a strong nation amid global challenges.

He also boosted the cadres to be intellectual and not to accuse other people only because of different political views.

Additionally, the Rakornas opening was attended by a number of figures, namely Syamsuar (Governor of Riau), Muhammad Nazir (Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Regional Board of Riau), Rudianto (Head of Education Office of Riau Province), Rusidi Ruslan (Chairman of the Election Supervisory Board of Riau) and Mubarok (Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau) and youth organizations in Riau.

The Rakornas was held on 3-6 July engaging the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of IMM across Indonesia.
