MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, SEMARANG –General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir officially opened a National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of Office of Social Services of Muhammadiyah in Semarang on Thursday (4/7).
Haedar stated that the Rakornas may be able to empower the impoverished, orphaned, and elderly so that social movements become a mainstream in the life of the nation.
“Muhammadiyah revitalizes social services, but government should also make imperative efforts. When Muhammadiyah undertakes philanthropy in order that the people can live in welfare and social justice can be achieved,” declared Haedar.
Thus, it is essential for government and Muhammadiyah to collaborate.
“Government is assisted since Muhammadiyah possesses social services in remote areas. Indeed, Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center becomes the front guard,” inserted Haedar.
Hence, he required all elements to massively take roles in empowering the needy.
“Muhammadiyah is a social movement. All empowerment programs which Muhammadiyah has performed aim to help government. Muhammadiyah would like to turn a notion of bounty into a movement,” asserted Haedar.
