KPK Believes Muhammadiyah Can Mold Anti-Corruption Generations

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, YOGYAKARTA - Chairman of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Agus Rahardjo believed that Muhammadiyah can create anti-corruption generations. Thus, the KPK and Muhammadiyah signed Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday (18/7) in hall of Muhammadiyah office, Yogyakarta.

“KPK is highly aware that the corruption cannot be eradicated alone. It needs an engagement of all components of this nation including Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama, two greatest movement in Indonesia,” declared Agus.

Agus added that having 50 million members shows that Muhammadiyah possesses incredible power to alter this nation’s character in preventing corruption.

He realized that what KPK has undertaken entails a lot of improvement so that it is necessary the synergy of all parties including Muhamamdiyah to provide information.

Agus contended that corruption is the main issue in the development of this nation besides the state budget (APBN) and tax ratio.

“That is why the corruption becomes our concern,” he stated.

He also expected that there would be law on corruption prevention which regulates our behaviors and conforms fiqh.

“We engage Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama because both movements can lead people to obey laws and Islamic teaching,” asserted Agus.

He also wished that the MoU enables all Muhammadiyah higher education institutions to apply education of anti-corruption.
