MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, KLATEN - Klaten was selected by Office of Community Empowerment of Muhammadiyah (MPM) as an area to develop organic broiler chickens. The MPM collaborated with Office of Amil, Zakat, and Shodaqoh of Muhammadiyah (Lazismu) to undertake the program.
Chair of the MPM of PD Muhammadiyah of Klaten Huzni Thamrin stated that the pilot project program aimed to evolve and empower Muhammadiyah activists engaged in animal husbandry.
“We leverage this occasion to develop the business by empowering the Muhammadiyah members in five districts of Klaten that each district is represented by ten breeders,” informed Husni on Saturday (20/7).
The breeders received 450 million rupiahs to undertake the program. Indeed, to support the program, the MPM PDM of Klaten will conduct a comparative study to other live stocks.
“We will have a survey in a stock breeding in Tegalduwur, Wonosari to observe how organic broiler production runs,” declared Husni.
The breeders will be provided training. They will learn basic theories of breeding and obtain 146 chickens so that that can implement theories they gain. Besides, the breeders will be supervised by some experts till livestock harvest.
Meanwhile, a member of the MPM PDM of Klaten Sidik Nurrohman expected that the program can enhance community welfare.
“There are many differences between organic and non-organic broiler chickens. Organic broiler chickens have chewy chicken meat and are more tasteful,” conveyed Sidik.
