MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, JAKARTA - Welcoming a visit of Ambassador of Japan to Indonesia H.E. Mr. Masafumi Ishii at Muhammadiyah Office of Jakarta on Monday (22/7), General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir expected that cooperation between Japan and Muhammadiyah could be expanded.

“We wish that H.E. Mr. Masa fumi Ishii can visit several Muhammadiyah charities, particularly higher education, to broad cooperation” hoped Haedar. The visit aimed to discuss cooperation between Japan and Muhammadiyah in community empowerment and economy.

Commencing his statement by expressing his support to Muhammadiyah as a Nobel laureate candidate, the Ambassador declared that the relations between Indonesia and Japan have been intertwined.

“Muhammadiyah has greatly contributed to the development of moderate Islam in Indonesia. We would like to have further cooperation,” Ishii maintained.

Additionally, General Secretary of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti informed that the visit talked that Japan and Muhammadiyah are eager to collaborate in areas of Islamic education and youth.

“For instance, we have a Genesis program inviting Indonesian youths to meet various elements in Japan, and a TAMU program initiated Professor Mitsuo Nakamura and supported by Japanese government to promote Indonesia to Japaneses. We also offer Islamic education-based programs to enhance human resources and facilities,” mentioned Abdul Mu’ti.

“We have done a lot of cooperation with Japan, and Mr. Ambassador would like to broaden the collaboration,” he ended.
