Gubernur Sokoto, Nigeria Is Eager to Have Muhammadiyah Hospitals in Sokoto

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, JAKARTA – Governor of Sokoto State, Nigeria Aminu Waziri Tambuwal expected to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in health between Muhammadiyah and Sokoto State.

Visiting Office of Muhammadiyah, Jakarta on Wednesday (24/7),  Aminu Waziri was welcomed by Chair of International Relations and Cooperation Office (LHKI) of Muhammadiyah Sudibyo Markus. Aminu was accompanied by doctors, educators, and governmental officials of Sokoto.

“The visit is a mission to cooperate with Muhammadiyah. This collaboration is distinctive. Programs are commonly undertaken after MoU signing, yet parties of Sokoto observed charity of Muhammadiyah, particularly in health, in order that they are sure to make an agreement,” declared Vice Chair of International Relations and Cooperation Office (LHKI) of Muhammadiyah Wahid Ridwan.

Wahid told that Aminu and his entourages visited Rumah Sakit Islam Jakarta Cempaka Putih before coming to the office. The cooperation between Sokoto State and Muhmmadiyah is dealing with health, hospital construction, an exchange program for doctors, nurses, and midwives, as well as a system adoption which does not merely focus on materials.

“This collaboration is regarding not only the programs but also an application of spiritual values including books for visitors. Indeed, Sokoto State is the oldest Islamic sultanate in Nigeria. Muslims and government of Sokoto have constructed a hospital with a capacity of 200 bedrooms. They need training from us,”  asserted Ridwan.
