MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, BANDUNG - General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir inaugurated SD Islam Kreatif Muhammadiyah of Pangalengan, Bandung on Sunday (4/8).
The inauguration was also attended by Chairwoman of the Central Board of ‘Aisyiyah Siti Noordjanah Djohantini. Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Regional Board (PWM) of Jawa Barat Syuhada, Secretary of the PWM of Jawa Barat Jamzam, Chairman of PDM of Bandung Usep Sudrajat, Regional Secretary of Jawa Barat Province, Regional Secretary of Bandung Regency, Head of Education Office, and Head of Pangalengan District.
Haedar thanked Government of Jawa Barat for supporting the development of Muhammadiyah education. Muhammadiyah also appreciated commitment and contribution of Chairman of the PDM of Bandung to donate land and a building of SD Islam Kreatif (SDIK - Creative Islamic Elementary School).
Besides, Haedar informed Muhammadiyah educational development in other countries such as Australia, Malaysia, and TK Aisyiyah in Mesir.
“What we do is to embody the best Muslims and nation (khairu ummah). One of the characteristics of the best people is being moderate (washatiyah) and assisting others (taawun). They do not possess extreme thoughts of religion and nation,” asserted Haedar.
Muhammadiyah, Haedar added, exists and is welcomed in remote areas, including areas where a majority of the people are non-Muslim such as Papua, Kupang, and NTT. Indeed, a non-Muslim in Sorong donated his land for Muhammadiyah education.
Haedar expected that education can mold tough and sedulous Muslims. Muhammadiyah schools have created national leaders and figures. Hence, it is a challenge whether our institutions can attain more that the achievements or move backward. Muhammadiyah educaiton is dakwah of Muhammadiyah in an educational area.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the PDM of Bandung Usup Sudrajat informed that the SDIK Muhammadiyah construction fund was from his family. The land and building was donated so that they become an asset of Muhammadiyah. He was inspired by some Muhmmadiyah figures such as K.H. Ahmad Dahlan, General Sudirman, Ir. Juanda, Ki Bagus Hadikusumo, and others to establish the school.
Muhammadiyah entails a great creative school so that people send their children to the school. The graduates, then, are expected to possess excellent competences and master theology and sciences.
