The MPM of Muhammadiyah Sacrifices with the Disabled

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, SLEMAN - To empower community and galvanize vigor of sharing, Office of Community Empowerment (MPM) of Muhammadiyah conducted a sacrificial program with the disabled at Mushola Al Fallah, Kanoman, Banyuraden, Sleman.

“We seek to empower them and instill zeal of sharing as social beings,” declared Secretary of the MPM Ahmad Ma’ruf on Tuesday (12/8). As a social group, the disabled often received negative stigma, but they attempt to relieve the paradigm.

The sacrificial program was organized in collaboration with Kelompok Simpan Pinjam Bangun Akses Kemandirian (KSP Bank) Difabel, Ngaglik and Galang Difable Gamping (Gading). Both groups intensively empower the disabled.

“The disabled saw the sacrifice and assist cutting the meat. This is a means to disseminate spirit to them,” added Ma’ruf.

He emphasized that discrimination should no longer exist. Humans are created with their own capacity so that we have to respect, be tolerant, do mutual assistance, and coin an inclusive community.

Regarding inclusion, Ma’ruf required all party to synergize because some public facilities sometimes are not friendly to the disabled. In fact, development is undertaken for public interests so that everyone deserves to use the facilities.

Meanwhile, chief of the sacrificial program as well as a member of the disabled group Sajimin thanked all parties for succeeding the program. The program is a mean to show roles of the disabled in society and to eradicate a stigma that the disabled are a burden and play few roles in society.

“I would like to thank all parties and let us yell our motto ‘Beda Bisa Luar Biasa’ (Different but Incredible) to spark our spirit in our social life,” expressed Jimin.

Besides, the program was addressed to promote literacy to the disabled through Rumah Baca Komunitas (RBK - a reading community), and to ask them to love their environment through planting trees.

In the program, eleven goats and one cow were slaughtered, and the meat was distributed to the members and people around the slaughter area.
