Pemuda Muhammadiyah Commemorates Indonesia’s 74th Independence Day in a Papua Border

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, JAYAPURA - Indonesia’s 74th Independence Day is God’s blessing and a result of a struggle of heroes. Thus, the independence should be grasped by all Indonesians through instilling nationalism.

The aforementioned paragraph was declared by General Chairman of the Central Board of Pemuda Muhammadiyah (PPPM - Muhammadiyah Youth) Sunanto when being an inspector of the ceremony of the Indonesia’s 74th Independence Day in Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, Papua on Saturday (17/8).

“All Indonesian people should go hand in hand to maintain the unity of Indonesia,” asserted Sunanto, well-known as Cak Nanto.

Cak Nanto added that government is now endeavoring to foster basic infrastructures from Sabang to Merauke and create advanced excellent human resources.

He encouraged Jayapura people to preserve the unity in all aspects.

“Indeed, the infrastructure development now can be perceived in not only urban but also the outermost and frontier areas of Indonesia. The development is a service enhancement for people in remote areas,” explained Cak Nanto.

In his visit to Jayapura, Cak Nanto was accompanied by Chairman of Pemuda Muhammadiyah for National Defense Samson Alkatri and Secretary of Pemuda Muhammadiyah for National Defense Bahrudin.

“The attendance of the Central Board of Pemuda Muhammadiyah to have the ceremony in this field since this area possesses a huge history that it was used to conducted an independence ceremony by heroes of Skouw Mabo,” Stated Cak Nanto.

Meanwhile, Chief of the Skouw Mabo Tribe Yansmahil Mallo thanked to the Pemuda Muhammadiyah for visiting Jayapura.

Yansmahil told that the ceremony has never been performed for these recent 20 years. The presence of Pemuda Muhammadiyah, Yansmahil thought, was valuable to instill nationalism within Skouw Mabo people.

“I would like to thank Pemuda Muhammadiyah for sharing goodness to all of us,” expressed Yansmahil accompanied by Headman of Pondo Awi.

Yansmahil believed that the Pemuda Muhamamdiyah commits to evolving Indonesia, particularly the human resources.
