General Chairman of Muhammadiyah Expects RS Siti Fadilah PKU Muhammadiyah to Be the Center of Excellence

PALU, MUHAMMADIYAH.ID - General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir expected that Rumah Sakit (RS - a hospital) Siti Fadilah Supari constructed in Palu City, Sulawesi Tengah by Pembinaan Kesejahteraan Umat (PKU) of Muhammadiyah can be the center of excellence of a health service center in the province.

“The charity has become a commitment of Muhammadiyah to flourish, educate, and empower community,” declared Haedar in a groundbreaking of the RS Siti Fadilah Supari in Palu on Sunday (1/9).

He stated that the PKU of Muhammadiyah will professionally manage the hospital, while the permit will soon be accomplished to ease the construction.

The hospital construction is undertaken in collaboration with several internal and overseas parties such as Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC), Universitas Muhammadiyah Palu, MPKU including Lazismu, and Direct Relief.

According to Haedar, in the post-disaster condition, Muhammadiyah concerns with not only the infrastructure and facility recovery but also the fulfillment of basic human rights such as health.

Thus, he believed that it is essential to establish a health center supported by competent medical teams to attain fast and appropriate health services.

“We wish that all Muhammadiyah boards can actuate people of Palu City, Sigi Regency, and Donggala to rise up,” asserted Haedar.

Besides the hospital establishment, Muhammadiyah also constructs some public facilities.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor of Sulawesi Tengah Rusli Baco Dg Palabi conveyed that the hospital construction must have added the number of health service centers in Sulawesi Tengah so that public can easily access the health care in a hospital aside from governmental hospital.

“Government of Sulawesi Tengah believes that that health care should provide prime services instead of burdening community so that people’s welfare can be achieved,” maintained Rusli.

He inserted that a hospital equipped with complete medical supplies and capable human resources is vital to underpin optimal health services.

“The provision of facilities, infrastructure, equipment, and resources should be sustainable so that inequality does not occur when serving the community," emphasized Rusli.
