Haedar Nashir: Protect the People and Create Peace in Wamena

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, WAMENA – Due to riots breaking out in Wamena recently, Muhammadiyah offered condolences to the dead, victims, and displaced people.

“May Allah save and toughen the people in Wamena,” wished General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir (29/9).

He urged government to take actions to protect all the people in Wamena and to attempt the best resolutions to cope with conflicts in Papua. The state must save all people of this nation as a mandate of the constitution. People’s safety must become a priority.

“We believe that government, particularly the Indonesian military (TNI) and the National Police (Polri), supported by the people can answer the problems,” declared Haedar.

He also advised all parties to refrain themselves, create a peaceful and conducive atmosphere, and focus on solutions.

“We assure that no one wants riots in Wamena to occur. Everyone seeks to coin safe and peaceful situations, and raise a sense of togetherness and belonging as a nation having a motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity),” asserted Haedar.

Thus, we may not exaggerate opinions and statements which hamper us to raise a conducive condition in Wamena and generally in Papua.

“As people who believe in a religion, we have to pray to Allah in order that Indonesia is always guided to the straight path to live the life of this nation, and people remain pious as well as gain Allah’s blessings,” hoped Haedar.
