Busyro’s Advice for the New House Members

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, YOGYAKARTA –All members of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) were sworn on Tuesday (1/10) in the DPR/MPR building. The inauguration of the 576 DPR and 136 DPD members was attended by President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

Responding the swearing, Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Busyro Muqoddas expected that the DPR and DPD members can commit to undertaking their duties.

“The mandate is tough, but noble. It deals with how we actualize and implement soul, values, and vigor of the preamble of the 1945 Constitution encompassing points of Pancasila in politics. The constitution preamble also comprises of principles of public policy and state policy. It is necessary for the members to apply principles of respectability,popular sovereignty, and independence,” declared Busro in an interview on Tuesday (1/10) at Muhammadiyah Office, Yogyakarta.

Busyro wished that the members can be aware that their position is as a representative of the people and region, and they are no longer a representative of a political party or an individual.

“We have to go hand in hand with community elements, and enhance our integrity in to develop a consequent and honest state politically, economically, and legally. Indeed, law enforcers should perform the principles in values of nationality. Good luck for the members, may Allah bless you,” hoped Busyro.
