Muhammadiyah Constructs an Environmentally Friendly Masjid

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, JAKARTA- Vice President (Vice President) of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla attended a groundbreaking of Masjid At-Tanwir at the complex of Muhmamadiyah Office, Jalan Menteng Raya No. 62, Jakarta on Thursday (17/10).

Chair of the masjid construction committee Muhadjir Effendy informed that the masjid applies environmentally friendly technology which none of masjids have used it.

“This ‘Go Green’ building will employ solar cells, and we utilized recycled water of ablution to sprinkle plants and to flush closets.

Muhadjir, who is also Minister of Education and Culture, inserted stated the ablution room will be constructed using a modern city park in the first floor.

“Besides considering the beauty and amenities, we seek to think about arranging a park around the masjid,” he added.  

We also design solar-powered lifts. Through this concept, Muhammdiyah adopts environmentally friendly technology in the midst of this crowded capital.

Consisting of six floors, the masjid will be functioned as a park and ablution room on floor one; a male prayer room on floor two and three; a female prayer room on floor four; Muhammadiyah Library, discussion rooms, and meeting rooms on floor five and six.

It is estimated that the six-floor masjid will cost 31 billion rupiahs, and the expense may be paid from disbursement (infaq).
