Spirituality, an Asset for a Leader

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, JAKARTA - General Secretary of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu'ti stated that a requisite for being a successful leader is spirituality, not rituality.

The aforementioned statement was declared by Abdul Mu’ti to students at Student Public Discussion of ‘Spirituality-based Study to Successfully Lead the Nation’ conducted by Al Wasath Institute in a collaboration with Student Executive Board of Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka on Friday (18/10).

“Thus, students should have existence. They should become a leader, and is not merely as activists. If you participate in a demonstration, you have to be the decision makers instead of followers,” emphasized Mu’ti.

Meanwhile, Dean of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Izza Rohman mentioned three means of being successful, namely intention, knowledge, and ability.

“If you are eager to be an efficacious leader, you should have the three aspects,” he asserted.

Besides, Secretary General of DPP of IMM Roby Karman encouraged all participants to sincerely gain knowledge both inside and outside campus so that they have adequate comprehension to be a leader.

Additionally, Director of Al Wasath Institute Faozan Amar informed that the discussion aimed to provide understanding of the significance of leadership spirituality.

“Indeed, today’s students are future leaders,” he exclaimed.
