The MPM of Muhammadiyah Initiates “Kampung Nelayan Berkemajuan” in Wonokerto

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, PEKALONGAN – One of the programs of Majlis of Community Empowerment (MPM) of Muhammdiyah is empowerment of fishermen. It aims to reinforce capacity of fisherman community.

“The MPM will always support the development of the fisherman community of Wonokerto. Since the fishermen dwell in one area, we will discuss how this area can be a developed fisherman village,” declared Chairperson of the MPM M. Nurul Yamin in a shrimp harvest with Muhammadiyah members of Wonokerto Pekalongan on Sunday (21/10).

The developed fisherman village exists since the fishermen undertake cultivation besides fishing.

“The MPM PCM Purwokerto has cultivated vannamei shrimp through a technological approach which can later empower the fishermen,” stated Yamin.

He added that the MPTM will seek to provide the fishermen fishing boats. Indeed, the MPM concerns with education of the fishermen’s children.

“We begin with TK ABA (a kindergarten) located at the riverbanks and swept away by sea water. The kindergarten should be relocated. Besides, Muhammadiyah elementary schools in Wonokerto are good at the field of tafsir (interpretation), and it is great education for the children,” maintained Yamin.
