MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, YOGYAKARTA– General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir conveyed a key to foster Muhammadiyah from district to sub-district (ranting) is reviving the regional board.

“An active regional board will bring impacts on the development of the district and sub-district,” believed Haedar when attending a groundbreaking of SM Tower on Sunday (17/11).

Besides, there is a campaign to disseminate Muhammadiyah teachings throughout Indonesia.

“The regional executive, district executive, and sub-district executive are keys to drive Muhammadiyah. Thus, their actions, particularly from Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), should be more dynamic and progressive since DIY becomes a center of education and culture,” added Haedar.

Besides, Haedar explains seven cultural elements become the focus of Muhammadiyah movements in Indonesia. Suara Muhammadiyah is deemed to develop the cultural elements.

First, Muhammadiyah has a strong foundation in a religious system. However, if the system is misunderstood, it emerges sectarian, radical, and puritanical responses. “Feelings of being the most religious and important should be diminished so that we do not exaggerate in grasping religious teachings. Everyone should fortify themselves. Religion may not hamper us to have good relationships with others and to perform good deeds in public,” emphasized Haedar when reminding audiences of being moderate in believing religion.

Second, Muhamamdiyah possesses a great language system. The language is a medium of not only instruction but also a representative of the way of thinking and behaviors. In fact, Suara Muhammadiyah becomes one of the media pioneers using Malay (Indonesian) since 1920.

Third, Muhammadiyah has an amazing knowledge system. Haedar maintained that Muhammadiyah through Suara Muhammadiyah has contributed to the scientific development. Muhmmadiyah has played roles in literacy development and educating this nation. Besides, Suara Muhammadiyah functions to reinforce the ideology.

Fourth, Muhammadiyah has a good economic and job system. Suara Muhammadiyah through its business units has gave contributions to the economic independence. Muslims are often found that they need to improve the economic field. “The most essential aspect is that we do not cause troubles,” stressed Haedar. He highlighted that economically empowered people are not the ones who talk less and do more,

Fifth, Muhammadiyah is well-known for its strong organizational and networking. “Hence, Muhammadiyah members in the levels of the district and sub-district executive should be strengthened,” he maintained.

Sixth, Muhammadiyah possesses great equipment and technology. Youths mastering technology should have be provided occasions. “We have to instill positive energy. I believe in persistence, sincerity, and awareness,” mentioned Haedar. Thinking that we are the best and trying to find other mistakes are the beginning of a disaster.

Seventh, Myhammadiyah has a great art system. Muhammadiyah through the Office of Cultural Arts and Sports always commits to reinforcing the arts.
