MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, BANTUL – Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Nadiem Anwar Makarim appreciated Muhammadiyah’s contribution to renew people’s lives, particularly in a field of education.
He expressed the admiration in the 107th anniversary commemoration of Muhammadiyah at Sportorium of Universitas Muhamamdiyah Yogyakarta on Monday (18/11).
“I am delighted and grateful to attend this celebration and perceive the vigor of the Muhamamdiyah founder Kiyai Haji Ahmad Dahlan 107 years ago,” he declared.
Nadiem believe that the spirit to educate this nation which Kiyai Haji Ahmad Dahlan instilled last century has brought tremendous impacts on this nation to be independent, developed, and civilized.
“Muhammadiyah possesses a spirit to foster a social order and civilize community to be more advanced and enlightened.
Besides, Nadiem appreciated women of ‘Aisyiyah for educating generations of Indonesia through 20,000 early childhood education institutions (PAUD).
“Many people do not grasp the significance of the PAUD for social education, particularly character building. When PAUD, children are at their golden age that we will mold characters of our future leaders. Indeed, Indonesia will not be developed without the great PAUD,” conveyed Nadiem.
He added that Muhammadiyah has presented that Islamic teachings are not just personal and static but dynamic. Islam is a way of life.
“Muhammadiyah has given contributions in not only education but also health and social. Those are what I adore from Muhammadiyah,” stated admitted.
Many leaders talk about dreams and missions, but Muhammadiyah has showed real actions to perform social services.
“I salute Muhammadiyah,” he uttered.
What Muhammadiyah does has assisted the changes and offered innovations in education. The innovations would not exist without the independence. Thus, all of them are in line with President Jokowi’s commands. One of the missions of Ministry of Education and Culture is to free the education, teachers, and students.
“I would like to thank Muhammadiyah for playing roles in Indonesia, even before Indonesia achieves its independence,” maintained Nadiem.
