Visiting Turkey, Haedar Presents How Muhammadiyah Educates This Nation

MUHAMMADIYAH. ID, ANKARA – General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir visited Turkey on 24-27 November 2019.

One of his schedules was having silaturrahim and a discussion with Indonesian people in Turkey.

Haedar stated that Islam possesses a structure and goals which drive humans to perfect human beings.

“In a social construction, Islam tries to create Muslims to be khoiru ummah (the best people),” declared Haedar at TDV Kocatepe Konferans Salonu, Ankara on Monday (26=5/11).

He presented indicators to be khoiru ummah mentioned on Al-Baqarah verse 143, “And thus we have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you…”

He expected that Muslims become moderate people instead of extremists towards religion and the world.

“Moderate people may not be excessive, but they should be developed and syuhada alannas,” explained Haedar.

Muslims have to be brilliant since the advancement and intelligence are parts of Islamic commitments.

Muhammadiyah, Haedar added, always copies Prophet Muhammad to establish civilization.

“Building civilization is not easy. It takes a lot of time and endeavor. Muhammadiyah has transformed it through establishing schools and higher education,” inserted Haedar.

Besides, he also hoped that Muslims should be skilled.

“Muslim should move forward instead of backward,” emphasized Haedar.

Muhammadiyah plays roles in educating and evolving this nation through founding the center of excellence.

“Having the masses is effortless, but constructing the center of excellence is arduous,” highlighted Haedar.

Last, Haedar advised Indonesian people dwelling in Turkey to come back to Indonesia and become reformers who develop and educate the nation.

In addition, Hader had meetings with Office of Yurtdışı Türkler Ve Akraba Topluluklar Başkanlığı (YTB) and Persident of Diyanet (Directorate of Religious Affairs). He also witnessed signings of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Muhammadiyah higher education and Turkish higher education.
