Haedar Bolsters a Partnership between Turkey and Muhammadiyah

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, TURKEY– Muhammadiyah visited Turkey on (25/11) due to an invitation from President of Yurtdışı Türkler Ve Akraba Topluluklar Başkanlığı (YTB) Abdullah Eren. In the occasion, General Chairman of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir promoted Muhammadiyah and recalled an established sustainable partnership between Turkey and Indonesia.

Haedar also reminded that relations between Turkey and Indonesia have interwoven since the 13th century, and should be fostered.

“The people should become a part of the civilization,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, a program of ‘Muhammadiyah Visits Turkey’ was initiated by the Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey H.E. Dr. Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, who is also an alumnus of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). Lalu conveyed that the relations are supported by the people including Muhammadiyah.

President of the YTB Abdullah Eren stated that Turkey and Indonesia are bound historically, culturally, and religiously. Besides, there was a signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide scholarships for Muhamamdiyah cadres to pursue their study in Turkey.

Additionally, coming along the visit was Secretary of Muhammadiyah Agung Danarto; Chairman and Secretary of Majlis of Higher Education, Research and Development Lincolin Arsyad and Muhammad Sayuti.
