MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, SURAKARTA –Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Dahlan Rais appreciated ketoprak performance at the 61st Anniversary of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMS), Tabligh Akbar, and Launching of Countdown of the 48th Congress of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah on Saturday evening (29/12).
“I think ketoprak is quite interesting. It tells us that we can utilize information technology, but we may not overlook old media such as wayang (a traditional performance using puppets), ketoprak, and other cultural performances,” declared Dahlan.
Meanwhile, Chair of the Board of Trustee of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) stated that the ketoprak performance presented a fragment of Al-Maun taught by K.H. Ahmad Dahlan.
“From the performance, before K.H. Ahmad Dahlan promoted Al-Maun, people have recited and memorized it for centuries, but they only recite, memorize, and understand the meaning,” he conveyed.
“K.H. Ahmad Dahlan attempted to implement Al-Maun so that now we can notice the establishment of thousands of orphanages hospitals belonging to Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah,” asserted Dahlan.
K.H. Ahmad Dahlan interpreted Al-Maun into a goal of Muhammadiyah, namely dissemination progressive Islam and dakwah.
Dahlan inserted that Muhammadiyah’s development as taught by K.H. Ahmad Dahlan is how we grasp Islam well and apply Islamic teaching in a real life by standing up for the needy.
