Din: Pancasila Becomes More Powerful Because of Religions

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, SIDOARJO – General Chairman of Muhammadiyah 2005-2015 Din Syamsuddin affirmed that religions, particularly Islam, possess a huge influence on the State of Pancasila. Thus, Pancasila is not an enemy of any religions.

“Pancasila, along with religions, becomes stronger and firmer. Without religions, Pancasila is weak,” emphasized Din in a seminar of the 48th Pre-Muhammadiyah Congress at Universitas Muhamamdiyah Sidoarjo (Umsida) on Tuesday (3/2).

Talking about ‘The State of Pancasila as Darul ‘Ahdi was Syahadah: Relevance and Implementation,’ Din stated that a novel concept of a nation which Indonesians have attempted to apply. The term had yet existed in Islamic political literature.

Din added the concept of Darul ‘Ahdi was Syahadah in a context of the State of Pancasila refers to an intellectual effort to create harmony and reconciliation between religious (Islamic) identity and political struggle in Indonesia.

“It is undeniable that Pancasila and Islam are inseparable and Pancasila values are Islamic. Therefore, both should not be contraposed,” Din asserted.

In the State of Pancasila, Din stressed that the most vital aspect is an implementation of the concept through strategic actions.

First, Pancasila should be averted from monopolistic efforts of ownership of certain groups because it is against the essence of Pancasila as a mutual agreement.

Second, Pancasila and the State of Pancasila should get closed to the origin, especially religions and culture.

“It is obvious that the first principle ‘Belief in the One and Only God’ is based on religions. Pancasila and religions may not be inextricable, and religions should be practiced together with Pancasila,” Din mentioned.

Third, ideology of the State of Pancasila should be performed. “Values of Pancasila have to be integrated in all aspects of the national development,” Din maintained.

He specifically explained that Darul ‘Ahdi was Syahadah refers to internal values for Muhammadiyah people and Muslims so that they no longer problematize and contradistinguish Pancasila and religions.

Hence, Din believed that Darul ‘Ahdi was Syahadah is an ideal concept of Indonesia as a state and nation, and it can become a role model for other nations in the world.

“The values of Darul ‘Ahdi was Syahadah will later turn Darul Hadarah wal Fadhilah,” declared Din.
