MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, SURAKARTA - Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir stated that Muhammadiyah has successfully proven its theological views during this COVID-19 pandemic.

In Tabligh Akbar Online Gema Kampus Ramadan (an online preaching) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta on Monday (11/5), Haedar mentioned three indicators of the success. First, Muhammadiyah is the greatest movement providing worship guidelines during this emergency.

“Second, Muhammadiyah has molded emphatic humanitarian relations based on the principle of Ukhuwah and taawun. Alhamdulillah, the social movement has been successful. Charity and service organizations of Lazismu and ‘Aisyiyah has shown their contributions,” asserted Haedar.

“Indeed, our concern should be enhanced. The state should be in the frontline to cope with this circumstance. Don’t you think that the underprivileged people are responsible of the state? The leaders are appointed by the people. Muhammadiyah will always play roles no matter how we are appreciated or are not,” emphasized Haedar.

“Third, we have to enlighten the people’s spirituality, moral, faith, piety, mind, and orientation. Muhammadiyah’s duty is enlightening, and progressive Islam is Islam providing solution, calming, broadening horizon, and improving our attitudes. Indeed, our faith should be stronger in this pandemic,” conveyed Haedar.

“Even though the people have not been ready to confront this pandemic, they may take a lesson. In the context of the nation, Muhammadiyah should always remind many parties and shift this condition. However, we have to recognize that there is limitation of dakwah success. Our responsibility is always performing dakwah dan tajdid. We may not complain and lament when we fail doing dakwah and cannot change people’s thought. We have to remain our endeavor,” advised Haedar.
