Muhammadiyah’s Roles in Social Humanitarian Realms

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, BANJARMASIN –General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir believed that Muhammadiyah actions in social humanitarian realms to embody khairu ummah (the best people) will be much better after this COVID-19 pandemic.

Nevertheless, the success relies on innovation of fastabiqul khairat of Muhammadiyah people and quality development of human resources through utilizing Muhammadiyah charity and services.

“I am sure that Muhammadiyah, if we capitalize this movement, will bear new hope. Muhammadiyah prepares for not only recovery but also future life plans. In the midst of this pandemic, we have to create better social movements. Transformation should exist in Muhammadiyah to promote an idea of mutual help as mentioned on Al-Maun,” declared Haedar.

In the online Islamic preaching conducted by the Regional Board of Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Selatan on Sunday (17/5), Haedar also encouraged Muhammadiyah cadres to build the center of excellence and to evaluate how far Muhammadiyah services benefit public.

“Our cadres and Muhammadiyah charity and services should get better. Our attitudes as Muhammadiyah people should be the best and can be beneficial for others,” advised Haedar.

“Empower the human resources. I think the empowerment is the greatest contribution of Muhammadiyah to the people and nation. It is not ‘we will’ but ‘we have’ contributed. Muhammadiyah has fostered education for more than a century so that we can coin ulul albab generations. We may not have rhetoric that Muslims are the best if the human resources are below the average. We have to be excellent at education, science and technology so that we can achieve a goal to be khoiru ummah. Muhammadiyah has in a right track, innovation, and creativity,” he asserted.
