‘Aisyiyah Plays Roles in the Protection of Women and Children in the Midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection focuses on security for vulnerable groups, particularly women and children.

The aforementioned statement was declared by Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati as a keynote speaker of an online discussion on “Alignment of Victim Services and Law Enforcement in Cases of Women and Children in the COVID-19 Pandemic” conducted by Majlis of Law and Human Rights of the Central Board of ‘Aisyiyah on Thursday (21/5).

Bintang appreciated roles of ‘Aisyiyah from the central board to the grassroots. She encouraged ‘Aisyiyah to empower women and protect children because ‘Aisyiyah is a strategic partner.

Meanwhile, Chairwoman of the Central Board of ‘Aisyiyah Siti Noordjannah Djohantini informed that since the pandemic ‘Aiyiyah has taken roles in multifaceted sectors by engaging all charity and services, the central board of ‘Aisyiyah, branches of ‘Aisyiyah, schools, hospitals, Children’s Social Welfare Board (LKSA), and ‘Aisyiyah higher education institutions.

“Including law services, ‘Aisyiyah has possessed 24 Legal Aid Posts in Indonesia,” mentioned Noordjannah.
