Whipping Up Young Generations of this Nation

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, YOGYAKARTA — Even though the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet, Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah for a health field dr. Agus Taufiqurrahman boosted people to remain concerning with issues which hamper resilience and brilliance of future generations.

He expressed his pride of cadres, participants, and stakeholders who have gone hand in hand with Muhammadiyah Tobacco Control Center (MTCC) to save young generations from dangers of smoking.

“The MTCC collaborating with groups of people has conducted multifaceted programs to protect this nation, particularly the youths, from activities which may bring bad impacts on their quality as golden generations,” declared dr. Agus on Saturday (30/5).

Majlis of Tarjih of Muhammadiyah obviously announced a fatwa of smoking assigned based on a statement of Prophet Muhammad, la dharoro wala dhiroro (to avoid activities which endanger ourselves and others).

Besides, the fatwa was also arranged based on a scientific study. As ingenious believers, we have to follow guidance of Rasulullah and objective research. Representing Muhammadiyah, dr. Agus entirely supported the MTCC to shelter youths as future generations.

He also cautioned all parties not to focus on one issues and to overlook others. Indeed, COVID-19 problems have drawn public attention so that they pigeonhole other matters. Thus, Muhammadiyah’s concern may not disregard issues of vulnerability of youths whose health and intelligence are threatened because of smoking.

"We must not neglect the issues only for interests which may undermine quality of future generations of this nation,” asserted dr. Agus.

He encouraged all elements to genuinely regard the future generations through maintaining their vigor to work, preparing risk management, and providing structured and directed approaches. Indeed, the MTCC should go hand in hand with others so that their programs can be performed massively and widely.
