Muhammadiyah Will Always Preserve the Unity of the Nation

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, TUBAN – The Local Board of Muhammadiyah of Tuban conducted a virtual meeting, halal bi halal (an Indonesian ritual done after Eid al Fitr) on Sunday (21/6). General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Prof. Haedar Nashir attended the online meeting. Chairman of the Regional Board of Muhammadiyah of Jawa Timur Prof. Biyanto, Regent of Tuban Fathul Huda, and Chairman of the Local Board of Muhammadiyah of Tuban also attended the gathering.

In his remark, Haedar affirmed that Muhammadiyah officially announced that Pancasila Ideology Bill (RUU HIP) is not urgent and must not proceed to be a law.

“Muhammadiyah insists government and the House of Representatives (DPR) to break an agreement on Pancasila decided by our founding father. It is not outrageous for the government and DPR to revoke the draft bill. Indeed, the manner portrays the vigor of statesmanship and good understanding of history. They will not be embarrassed if they do it as their good political willingness and to appreciate dignity of statesmen,” declared Haedar.

The Central Board of Muhammadiyah has determined its demeanor based on firm principles so that Haedar invoked Muhammadiyah cadres and people in regional and local branches not to go protest but to follow the pronouncement of Muhammadiyah on the RUU HIP.

“If necessary, tell the statement of Muhammadiyah to local government in a great manner. Muhamamdiyah will always preserve unity and ukuwah,” asserted Haedar.

He also encouraged all elements of this nation to remain believing that Indonesia should be based on Pancasila and to strive for this nation to be united, independent, sovereign, and prosperous or as Muhammadiyah says to be progressive in moral, faith, piety, economy, politics, culture, and religious life.

Besides, Haedar propelled Muhammadiyah people to initiate the use of social media productively, smart, and virtuously.

“When we are active in social media, we think that we have carried out a lot for Muhammadiyah. However, our mosques are far from prosperous, our charity and service institutions are not developed, our people are not empowered, and their economy is not good enough,” he revealed.
