Muhammadiyah Values the Decision of Saudi Arabia on the Hajj Pilgrimage of 2020

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Government of Saudi Arabia declared a pronouncement that the Hajj Pilgrimage of 2020 is permitted in this COVID-19 pandemic.

Nevertheless, the hajj rites will have tight health protocols such as maintaining physical distancing. The hajj is also only allowed for a number of foreigners who have been dwelling in Saudi Arabia.

Responding the announcement, Secretary of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Agung Danarto stated that Muhamamdiyah respected the decision.

Insya Allah, Saudi Arabia made an appropriate decision for all of us,” conveyed Agung in a press conference on Eid al-Adha on Wednesday (24/6) in Muhammadiyah Office of Yogyakarta.

Furthermore, Agung contended that Muhammadiyah will understand if the Government of Saudi Arabia cancels the hajj pilgrimage.

“All policies should be mulled during this pandemic. I think it is a wise decision since we must break the chain of the coronavirus transmission so that we can be back to a normal life,” asserted Agung.
