JAKARTA - Muhammadiyah University of Prof. Dr. Hamka (UHAMKA) continuously invites various prominent national figures to speak in seminars and discussion events. The presence of national figures is expected to create synergistic programs that benefit both parties.
It is said by UHAMKA Rector, Prof. Dr. Suyatno, M. Pd told reporters after accompanying the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration (Menakertrans) Drs. HA. Muhaimin Iskandar, M. Si speaking in Human Resource Strategy Seminar Indonesia in Facing Global Competition Employment in Indonesia, which was held at the Auditorium UHAMKA 4th floor, on May 21, 2011.
According to Suyatno, UHAMKA had interest in building synergies with the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration to provide information about employment to the students. This synergistic program aimed to build networks that would be useful for UHAMKA graduates seeking for employment.
"UHAMKA wants to serve the graduates by providing information through partnerships built by the campus. For example, the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration. The incoming information from the Ministry of labor would be needed by UHAMKA graduates, "he said.
Synergistic program with the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, added Suyatno, encouraged UHAMKA to be serious in preparing its graduates to be more competence so that they could be accepted in work network. In addition, UHAMKA seeks to invite graduates not only looking for jobs but to create them.
"We're trying to change the paradigm that the university doesn’t only produce graduates who will be looking for work, but also gives birth to scholars who are able to create jobs," he said.
Entrepreneurship Program
Minister of Manpower and Transmigration, Muhaimin Iskandar welcome UHAMKA desire to create synergy with the ministry. According to him, the synergy between government and universities was needed.
"UHAMKA can synergize with the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration to recruit human resources in the areas of employment," said the chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) it.
Added Muhaimin, with more synergy UHAMKA will have good planning in creating competent human resources to work network.
"I am optimistic that the synergy between the government and universities, as promoted by UHAMKA can provide a way out in an effort of preparing human resources in the areas of employment," he said.
As Minister of Labour, Muhaimin really hoped to the universities not only to produce graduates but also give birth graduates who could create job fields.
Therefore, he welcomed the entrepreneurship program or entrepreneurial-driven universities. According to him, university was ready to give birth to the creative industries through the entrepreneurship program. With this entrepreneurship program, the university was no longer known as the creator of job seekers, but as a creator of jobs.
According to Muhaimin, entrepreneurship programs in universities should become priority. Because through this program, students were trained to be independent and able to create jobs. The market for entrepreneurial world was very wide and open, therefore this program had to be a university priority programs in an effort to create jobs. (Www.uhamka.ac.id)
