Discipline is the answer to tackle this pandemic

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, JAKARTA – A COVID-19 pandemic has come to Indonesia for five months, but the number of cases has yet reached the peak. Thus, people should be disciplined to perform three health protocols (to wear a mask, to do physical distancing, and to wash hands).

The less people’s awareness and discipline, the longer the COVID-19 transmissions can be broken.

“We could fight colonialism due to our unity, willingness to sacrifice, mutual cooperation, and hope. Therefore, we should have the vigor to tackle this pandemic,” declared a veteran of the independence of Indonesia Colonel Hidayat in a dialog of the 75th Independence Day of Indonesia on Elshinta Radio on Monday (17/8).

In addition, a son of a national hero Bung Tomo as well as a former staff of Communication and Policy Division of Ministry of Health Bambang Sulistomo contended that people’s indiscipline is because government overlooks sociocultural factors.

“Hence, leaders should give examples and be consistent so that people will obey rules,” regarded Bambang.

Even though the curve has yet alleviated, government allowed some schools, including 27 regencies and cities in Jawa Barat, to have offline learning.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of the Muhammadiyah COVID-19 Command Center (MCCC) as well as a staff of National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Corona Rintawan expected the government to prioritize something greater and more essential in making policies.

“Schools were briefed by the Ministry of Education and Culture about effects of conducting online learning for long time. However, if children have an offline meeting, they are at high risk,” conveyed Corona Rintawan.
