Yogyakarta-Recently, the number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia is only about 0.8% of the total population of Indonesia. Thus, it can be seen that there is still lack of the existing entrepreneurship.
In an effort of cultivating the entrepreneurship spirit to students in High School (SMA), Vocational School (SMK), Management Studies of Muhammaidyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY) held Entrepreneurship Competition for high school students as well as vocational throughout Java on Saturday afternoon (21 / 5) at UMY campus.
According to the event coordinator, Lela Hindasah SE, MSi, entrepreneurial spirit was important to be grown at their teens. Then, through the organization of this event it was expected to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship in the students. "So that later it would produce creative and innovative young entrepreneurs who can create jobs for themselves and others," he explained.
Lela added this activity was expected also to explore students’ potential in entrepreneurship, and to foster entrepreneurship motivation. "Besides encouraging the growth of prospective young entrepreneurs in business planning," she added.
The first stage of the competition began with an assessment of proposals that had been sent by participants from each school. "Proposals that passed the selection based on the systematic writing, relevance of the title with the contents and other criteria would then pass to the second stage or final stage." She explained.
In the final stage, the participants presented the proposals which had been proposed. "Criteria for assessment at this stage, among others, ranged from business plan, visibility of business or the business feasibility, innovation and creativity. In addition, performance of the participants during the presentation was also considered. Both of knowledge about its products, technological mastery or slide presentation, and ability to answer questions from the jury were also included," said she.
In the competition the first place was taken by SMA Negeri I Yogyakarta with Damar Romadhoni and Panduaji Panditatwa proposing the idea of an Islamic agenda book that had many functionssuch as prayer schedule, pearl Qur'an and hadith, and records for every other day. Their products were named Islamic Lizama Note.
"Then the second placed was achieved by of the high school SMA Negeri I Batangan, Pati with Hesti Asih Kusumawati, Dian Utoro Aji and Amalia Yunita promoting syrup business that offered the prospect of Smart Taste (Cenas), Centella asiatica extract as a beverage supplement for brain nutrition. The third was from SMK Pawyatan Daha Kediri with Sri Rahayu, Wira Wiasih and Tri Wulandari. "They offer rainbow meatballs. Meatballs are made colorful with natural colors derived from carrots, nans, spinach and sweet potatoes, "explained Lela.
"The first winner is entitled to a cash amount of Rp. 2,500,000.00, Second Place received cash amounting to Rp. 2,000,000.00, while the third winner received Rp. 1,500,000.00. All three also received a trophy and plaque award, "he explained.
The first runner-up in the competition was achieved by SMA N 5 Semarang with Maharani and Mariska Chairunisa promoting Flower-shaped lighting products that showed the unyil with the named 'Glo Nyil'. Then the second runner-up was achieved by SMK N 2 Depok, Sleman with Aji Bayu Kusuma and Pramod Husodo issuing laundry business which promoted business 'Maxy wash'.
