MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, JAKARTA – Confronting times of rapid change in all fields, the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir encouraged Pemuda Muhammadiyah (Muhammadiyah Youth Association) to uphold khittah (strategies) and spirit of the movement.
“Ripeness is a key of Pemuda Muhammadiyah to cope with shifts in socio-historical, socio-political, socio-economic and religious spatial structures. Practically, dakwah of Pemuda Muhammadiyah should always be present in cities and rural areas. Pemuda Muhammadiyah should also collaborate with other Muhammadiyah organizations,” declared Haedar.
In his remark at the National Coordination Meeting for Internal Division of Pemuda Muhammadiyah throughout Indonesia on Sunday (27/9), Haedar also conveyed that fast alterations bring bad impacts on people, particularly the ones having low-class economic income.
The backwardness renders Muslims to have apologetic and blocked mentality so that they always try to blame others. In a context of religion, the mentality can cause reactive and confrontational perspective far from historical romanticism.
Thus, Haedar advised that the Pemuda Muhammadiyah cadres can play roles as actors and subjects of change representing wisdom, knowledge, integrity, and constructive alternatives.
He added that, in aspects of religion and ideology, Pemuda Muhammadiyah should possess one similar religious thought of Muhammadiyah which encompasses Bayani (law), Burhani (intelligence), and 'Irfani (wisdom).
“In the midst of political chaos, the Pemuda Muhammadiyah should be careful and good at noticing political trends,” reminded Haedar.
He also told all elements of the Pemuda Muhammadiyah to maintain togetherness and six main aspects, namely reinforcement of integrity and self-quality, understanding Islam and ideology, development of an organization system, development of praxis and community programs, improvement of synergy and cooperation, and reinforcement of roles in this nation and the world.
“Muhammadiyah is a movement. All decisions must be based on agreement of this movement. Hence, our roles in this nation and the universe should become our priority. We have to always preserve our togetherness,” asserted Haedar.
