Haedar: The Pandemic Teaches Us to Always Learn from This Life

MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, KEBUMEN – PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong was officially assigned as the only referral hospital for COVID-19, cancer, and kidney failure patients in the southwestern of Central Java on Tuesday (3/11) along with an inauguration of a building of the COVID-19 isolation and cancer and kidney treatment installation.

General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah thanked all parties for their efforts to reach the achievement. He informed that one of the strategic programs initiated by the Central Board of Muhammadiyah.

“We need to maintain out togetherness because we still have many programs. What Muhammadiyah has undertaken represents Muhammadiyah’s enthusiasm for presenting Islam as an answer. Before and after the independence, we are on the front line,” declared Haedar.

Insya Allah, all collaborations of Muhammadiyah will ultimately be addressed to this nation. That’s Muhammadiyah,” he asserted.

Having Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Terawan Agus Putranto, Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, and other officials virtually, Haedar mentioned some advice.

First, the COVID-19 pandemic teaches us that all political arrogance and superiority of individuals and groups are powerless against the COVID-19.

Thus, Haedar encouraged all elements of this nation to help one another to build togetherness and not to think that they are the truest. Since the first COVID-19 case was announced on March 2, Muhammadiyah has driven its people to tackle the outbreak.

“Roles of 90 Muhammadiyah hospitals to confront the pandemic are attempts to ease burdens of this nation and the people. All efforts are a link to show that Muhammadiyah exists for the people, nation, and universal humanity,” he affirmed.

“If we cultivate mutual cooperation and togetherness, we will be able to cope with this pandemic,” coveyed Haedar.

Next, Haedar prompted all people not to be arrogant and neglectful since overcoming the pandemic needs to prioritize knowledge and technology besides religion.

“We, Muhammadiyah, have brought together epidemiologists so that what we have done is based on the scientific consideration. Therefore, fatwas of Majlis of Tarjih encompass fiqh aspects growing optimism,” explained Haedar.

“Last, spirituality is necessary. I think that this pandemic tells us to always learn from this life. This outbreak undermines pride and hegemony. We have to learn that a nation entails to instill spirituality to generate modesty and noble values to face national issues,” ended Haedar.
