Yogyakarta – According to 4 International Colleges & Universities (4icu), University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) received the first rating of Private Higher Education (PTS) across Yogyakarta. While at the national level UMY ranked as the second of the Indonesian private university.
4icu is a college search engine that covers about 10,000 Colleges and Universities. The ranking is based upon university websites popularity concerned in 200 countries. Data and information regarding these ratings will be updated every six months issued in January and July.
According to Chief of Bureau of Information Systems (BSI) UMY, Wahyudi, ST, MT UMY ranking based on the 4icu was the trust of community. "Rank in 4icu is based upon university websites ranked by popularity which is accessible to public as well as the links posted on the websites. So it goes in a matter of search engine used for the 4icu calculation like google page rank and Yahoo inbound links," he added when met at UMY Campus on Friday (29 / 7).
In relation with the number of visitors on the web or placing a university web link on the web visitors was seen respectively by Wahyudi to be influenced by the content of such university web. "Interesting web content will make people interested to always visit the web link and put it on their webs. More and more people are visiting and placing a link on the web they will make more and more detectable by search engines, "he explained.
Related with the ranking in his presentation, it was not the ultimate goal but measurement for the university. "As measurement related to university services relevant to the community. University website is able to provide the required information and then share the science, knowledge and research results to society. So the feedback is the trust of the community. One of them is varied access toward the website and placing a link on their website. "He added.
Further Wahyudi explained that a good website was to provide the needed information. "For example, the website of Higher Education. At least the web includes the wider community needs. Starting from prospective students who can know what terms are the requirements for the entry to the university. Then the students can take advantage of e-learning. Where lecturers can put up a course or a collection of schedule and other duties. While the public can know the science, knowledge and research that benefit them informed via the web, "he said.
Wahyudi UMY hopes the increased ratings will increasingly encourage the academic community of UMY to provide as much information to the public. "Increasing the awareness of sharing knowledge, data, information and knowledge. Then use the website as one means to communicate between universities with the community. "He said
