Yogyakarta - Climate change has already been happening around the world, including Indonesia. Climate change requires people to change living habits by becoming virus of change as manifest to prevent the worsening climate change.

This was said by Valerina Daniel, Ambassador of Environment of Republic of Indonesia, in Interactive Dialogue "Practical Ways to Maintain the Earth" on Saturday (13 / 8) afternoon. The event was held at Convention Hall Asri Medical Center University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) held in cooperation between the Center for Environment and Disasters Study (PSLB) UMY and the Ministry of Environment Republic of Indonesia.

In this dialog, Vale who was also the Environment Lady and the Runner Up of Puteri Indonesia 2005 expressed how the earth changed over time, as well as a variety of damages that might occur in all parts of this earth if we did not ‘do something' as early as possible.

Vale offered some tips on how to care for the earth in order to prevent worsening climate change. The 13 tips that she called COP13 (The Okay Alternatives to Maintain the Earth) that started from yourself by being able to always seek out and add to knowledge about climate change and how to prevent it. "We can also disseminate this information to the people around us so the more people know and  the more they move to join a start," said Vale.

Conserving electrical energy was also an easy way to do every day. Immediately to put out the lights when they were not needed, to design an open room made us we minimize the use of lights and replace them with sunlight. Vale also suggested moving from incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescent lighting. In addition, turning off the electronic equipments after using them, beside not to leave electronic equipment in a state of "on". In addition to saving electricity, this saved cost and space efficiency.

Another step was to recycle waste. It is to separate organic waste and non-organic. We could recycle organic waste into compost, while non-organic products could be recycled into other goods. Avoid burning trash as the burning was able to produce air and soil pollution. Vale also suggested people to save fuel, water, paper, and avoid plastic bags use.

In addition, it should not be forgotten to back to nature by using a variety of natural products, plant trees and gardening anything around the house, filling the holiday with a picnic to the park, using local products that are environmentally friendly and be eco-warrior. Being an eco-warrior could be done by reprimanding those who littered, or joined with environmentalists and community groups. "In every crisis, there is opportunity, ask ourselves, what we can do to our earth," said Vale at the end of the dialogue.
