Honesty is now luxurious thing: Din Syamsuddin

Malang – The chairman of Muhammadiyah Central executive Din Syamsuddin assessed, nowadays honesty had become a luxury and expensive thing in Indonesia, for many public dishonesties had been consumption of the masses. Dishonesty had also been plagued by mandate holders who eventually started to loose the nation's conscience.

This opinion was expressed by Din Syamsuddin when giving lectures in front of thousands of committees and  people of Muhammadiyah across East Java, in the event recitation of regional executive Muhammdiyah East Java at the Dome of University of Muhammadiyah Malang on Saturday (13/08/2011). According to Din, the dishonesty that plagued the nation, had become a major problem of Muslims. "Dishonesty has evolved as a crime. Misguidance then actually is covered by early misguidance. As dishonesty needs other lies to cover the early dishonesty. These weaknesses were covered up, wrapped in things like better, but sourced from a lie, "he explained.

Dishonesty according to Din, resulted on fading of Indonesia’s  dignity as a nation, it would obviously affect the interaction of Indonesia as nation in international level, because other countries would just treat Indonesia as a nation of dishonesty if the value of honesty did not start to practice. Thus, Din Syamsuddin asked Muhammadiyah people in particular and Muslims in general to return to Islamic values which highly honor honesty, "For the Indonesian people who have achieved nothing, it is honor the spirit of honesty. Moreover, we are a Muslim majority, which is full of values of virtue. Honesty should be Muhammadiyah excellence values, and is of characteristics of Muhammadiyah movement steps, "said Din.
