Samarinda – The General Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Din Syamsuddin, officially opened Tanwir Muhammdiyah in GOR Segiri, Samarinda, East Kalimantan. The opening began at 9 WITA (Indonesian Local East Time) (5/23) and it was attended thousand Muhammadiyah members in East Kalimantan and the Tanwir participants who were from Provincial Executive Board of Muhammadiyah from all over Indonesia.
In his opening speech, Din Syamsuddin hoped that Tanwir Muhammadiyah would be able to produce enlightening thoughts. “Since the spirit of Tanwir and Tajdid is for enlightenment, it is the responsibility for Muhammadiyah to be enlightening agent for the Nation,” he stated. Furthermore, Din Syamsuddin, who is also the Chairman of MUI, stated that the Founders’ ideas of Indonesia are similar to Muhammadiyah’s ideas for Indonesia. It is also Muhammadiyah’s goal so that Indonesia can be developed country and able to stand tall next to developed countries in the world.
On the other hand, the Chairman of the Steering Committee for Tanwir Muhammadiyah, who is also the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Dahlan Rais stated that they will also talk about what Muhammadiyah had done for Indonesia in the Tanwir. As stated by him, Muhammadiyah will also distribute guide books of Muhammadiyah thoughts for Indonesia for the next five to ten years. It is planned that Tanwir Muhammadiyah will be held from May 23rd to Sunday, May 25th, 2014 with the theme of Dakwah Pencerahan Menuju Indonesia Berkemajuan. (mac)
