Two President Candidates Ready to Present Their Vision in Muhammadiyah Tanwir Congress

Samarinda – Two President Candidates, who had registered in the Central Commission of Public Election (Komisi Pemilihan Umum/KPU), Joko Widodo and Prabowo Subianto had confirmed their attendance in Muhammadiyah Tanwir Congress in Samarinda, East Kalimantan. They will be given time to present their vision and mission before the congress participants, who are the Chairmen of Muhammadiyah in Indonesia. 

This is as stated in the speech by Din Syamsuddin, the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board in the opening of Muhammadiyah Tanwir Congress in Samarinda, East Kalimantan on Friday (5/23). According to him, Tanwir forum will provide time for the President Candidates to present their vision for the future of Indonesia. As stated by Din Syamsuddin, Joko Widodo will be given time to present his vision in the morning, while Prabowo will present his on 11 a.m. Indonesian Central Time (Waktu Indonesia Tengah/WITA) on Saturday (5/24). Even though Muhammadiyah will invite all President Candidates, Din Syamsuddin affirmed that Muhammadiyah remains neutral and does not support certain candidate. Muhammadiyah will always support sublime politics, moral politics that will not reduce its support to a certain political party.

Furthermore, Din Syamsuddin stated that Tanwir in Bandung on the last 2012 had founded some criteria for the next Indonesia President; they are: Solidarity Maker, able to bridge the Nation’s interest over his political parties’ or family’s interest; Problem Solver, able to solve the Nation’s problem; Risk Taker, willing to take the right action and does not care about mere image; and Morally Committed, able to uphold moral values and be trustworthy.
