Malik Fadjar: Olympics Produced High Quality People

Malang – Ahmad Dahlan Olympic event in Muhammadiyah educational institutions will produce high quality people who are excel in religious and general science. This was as stated by the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Prof A Malik Fadjar when he opened Muhammadiyah National Olympicad and Conference in Muhammadiyah University of Malang on Saturday (6/14).

“General sciences (worldly) and religious science are inseparable to students, especially for the students of Muhammadiyah University to become high-quality people. Excellence and quality are important,” Malik Fadjar said.

He thought, the birth of glorifying high-quality people will also produce inspiring young generations for the future Indonesia. Therefore, Ahmad Dahlan Olympics is the most proper way to bring the young generations, not only master general sciences but also religious science.

Furthermore, the Chairman of School, Madrasah (Islamic School), and Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) Council of Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Prof Dr Baedhowi, stated that Olympics, which is held every two years, was the fourth and the last two year event was held in Yogyakarta.

In the future, Baedhowi stated that the olympics’ winner province, both from madrasah or pondok pesantren should be complied to be the host for the next Olympics. “However, in order to achieve the victory, they have to be honest to realize quality education,” he said.

He explained the purpose of olimpicad was as the means of strengthening kinship between students and teachers in Muhammadiyah institutions throughout Indonesia, the media to strengthen networking and performance between students and teachers, and encourage school, madrasah, or ponpes Muhammadiyah to improve the quality and performance in order to have high competitiveness.

Moreover, he said, it was done to encourage the authorities of school, madrasah, or ponpes Muhammadiyah to be committed for the school to be quality and high-competed organization.

Muhammadiyah Olimpicad and Conference was held for two days, Saturday and Sunday (6/14-15), and there were a total of 5500 of students from elementary school to senior high school in Muhammadiyah institutions in Indonesia.

Besides competing in skill, general and religious knowledge, there was also sports game, especially martial arts, and conference which was attended by the teachers of Muhammadiyah educational institutions in Indonesia. (dzar)
