BATU – the Provincial Chairman of MDMC (Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center) of East Java successfully held an activity on “Pelatihan Sphere dan Refleksi dari Muhammadiyah untuk Kelud.” This activity was held in Kota Batu on 13-15 June 2014 in Apple Sun Learning Center, which was one of charitable efforts of PDM Kota Batu, attended by 90 participants from PD MDMC in East Java.
The aim of this activity was a form of reflection for some MDMC, which about four months ago suffered from Mt Kelud to share the experience as volunteers. As an evaluation, as there were still a lot of shortcomings in the field; one of them was unorganized management for disaster prevention.
Budi Setiawan, the Chairman of MDMC (Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center), in the opening of the training stated the purpose of this activity was a form of reflection for some MDMC, which about four months ago suffered from Mt Kelud to share the experience as volunteers. “As an evaluation, as there were still a lot of shortcomings in the field; one of them was unorganized management for disaster prevention. Pelatihan Sphere could be a benchmark for the volunteers of MDMC in understanding of disaster prevention management,” he explained on Friday (6/13). Furthermore, he said that the training will be a routine activity to strengthen the bond among MDMC to be more synergy and ready to be tough volunteers.
The training, which was held for three days, presented many keynote speakers; among them were Hening Parlan and Budi Santoso from MDMC who presented the realization of good disaster prevention management, so that each field activity would be organized and documented. The training participants were enthusiastic with this activity. Besides material presentation indoor, the last day of the training was closed with Fun Game and Rafting.
“We hope that some areas in East Java will soon have LPB and MDMC, and gratitude for MDMC of Kota Batu of becoming the local committee for the activity, who had prepared everything so that the participants were comfortable in the training location and the activity went well,” said Era Catur Prasetya, the Chairman of MDMC of East Java.
