Kasihan, Bantul - Islamic Scholars Regeneration in accordance with the needs of the times becomes a challenge for Muslims. The emphasis of the needs of the times refers to the internal and external challenges. It was announced by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, on the recitation of Ramadan 1435 H in front of members of Muhammadiyah in 5th floor of AR Fakhruddin B Building in integrated Campus of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta on Thursday evening (3/7).
Lukman stated internal challenges were in the form of technology and communication models for young Muslims. Technology has changed the method of Muslim youth in accessing knowledge and information. Before the technology is very advanced and can be enjoyed massively and cheaply as it is today, young Muslims accessed through teachers or scholars science and information can be filtered based on the values appropriated to the age, character and culture of young Muslims in Indonesia. Currently, the technology is used and all the information is unstoppable and accepted without filtration.
On the internal side of Muslims, according to him, recent scholars are required to have competency of developing pluralistic understanding. In preaching, for example, scholars should be able to distinguish between the essence of Islamic propagation and the concept of commanding the good and forbidding the evil (amar ma'ruf nahi munkar).
The essence of Islamic Propagation (dakwah) in the Indonesia which has various and diverse understanding of religious organizations must promote the acceptable methods of both the essence and the method or mau'idhah hasanah propagation models. Using this approach, scholars or preachers would not get stuck in bad habit by condemning others who have different religious views because that habit will harm the diversity in Indonesia.
According to him, scholar regeneration agency becomes important ideas to think about its institutionalization. Through the scholar regeneration institute, it is expected that there will be a scholar who is in accordance to the times and can answer the challenges. (Dhar)
