Jakarta- UHAMKA is about to cooperate with City & Guilds, England, in developing certification for lecturers and students. This is stated by Vice Rector III, Dr. H. Gunawan Suryoputro, M. Hum to Warta UHAMKA (25/8).

According to Gunawan, the cooperation will be proceeded after City & Guilds Director, Mr. Ralph Adam, visits UHAMKA and is officially accepted by UHAMKA Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Suyatno, M.Pd.

Even though Mr. Ralph Adam's visit is only a probe, this - according to Gunawan - is very important for UHAMKA. Doing the cooperation, UHAMKA's lecturers and students can increase their ability and self-skills.

In the beginning, three departments (prodi) will be certified. The departments are English, Accounting, and Communication. English department covers office skills, TESOL, and conversation skills.

Accouting department covers bookkeeping and accounting, financial business, computerized accounting and finance. Communication department covers sound development and music technology, media technique and photography.

City & Guilds is an international certification body in the United Kingdom established in 1878 by the British Kingdom. City & Guilds provides almost 50 % of total qualification in England. It has the mission of improving public's living standard globally and expects to increase people's skills. City & Guilds has cooperated with market-leading companies in England and commonwealth nations.

The holders of City & Guilds certification can increase their career and promotion. City & Guilds certification has been admitted internationally and in commonwealth countries, so the certification holders can have an interantional career.
